INKLE WEAVING WORKSHOP (Price: $130)

Create decorative bands using an Inkle loom in this exciting weaving workshop! Our instructors will guide you through easy to follow instructions where you will learn the appropriate yarns to use, how to wrap your loom following a pattern and how to weave your design. Make your own straps, belts, bookmarks and more! Cost of the workshop includes your very own Inkle Loom created by the participants at SEEDs for Autism! ESSENTIAL OIL AMULET WORKSHOP (Price: $65)
Create a beautiful copper or brass amulet using a variety of materials and beginner jewelry making techniques. This stunning pendant has a pocket to hold the uplifting scents of essential oils which you can enjoy all day long! Our instructors will walk you through the process as you craft this unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry item. All materials are included.

SHOPPING WITH PURPOSE

SEEDs participants produce a wide variety of high quality home and garden products which will be available for purchase at our annual Art Jam! Luxurious soaps, colorful ceramics, unique jewelry items and so much more! There is something for everyone at this wonderful family-friendly event and all proceeds help support this life-changing program.

ARTISAN MAKERS WORKSHOPS

Once again, SEEDs for Autism is excited to present Artisan Makers Workshops at our 2019 Art Jam! These hands-on classes will take place during the event and provide a wonderful opportunity for us to share our skills with the community! Work side by side with SEEDs participants and local artisans as they guide you through the steps of making a variety of beautiful hand-crafted gift items. For those on the autism spectrum, this 3 ½ hour workshop provides a unique opportunity to express themselves creatively and explore their talents while practicing social skills. Sharing this popular area of interest with peers creates a positive, encouraging environment of connection and friendship.

ABOUT THE EVENT

Participants will learn elements of visual storytelling and develop communication skills as they rotate through this exciting 3 part workshop! Our team of artists and experienced professionals are excited to help you explore your talents and discover new ones!

Comics

Participants will explore the world of comics and learn about visual storytelling and communication while engaging in interactive creative exercises with their peers. Flex your imagination, create your own comic and learn to tell stories panel by panel!

Pop-Art Painting

Painting relieves stress, enhances our ability to concentrate and helps develop fine motor skills.  Create iconic comic book art using paint, canvas and your imagination! Our instructors will guide you step by step as you turn words into art using color to express emotion!

Stop-Motion Animation:

Technology offers new methods of sharing ideas, telling stories and communicating with others. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes journey into the exciting world of stop-motion animation and utilize a variety computer skills, lighting and equipment to animate LEGOS in this high tech adventure!

ACTIVITIES INCLUDE

CREATE YOUR OWN WIZARDING WARDROBE!

Sewing improves hand eye coordination, inspires focus and cultivates emotional well being. Explore your creativity and develop your fine motor skills as you create your very own magical cloak and hat!

FLYING DRAGON!

Who needs a broom when you can hitch a ride on your very own dragon! A traditional hobby horse gets a magical twist with this fantastic art project!

To complete your wizarding wardrobe, a spellbinding selection of SEEDs for Autism’s handcrafted wands will be available for purchase during the event!

ABOUT THE EVENT:

Participants rotate and engage in all three parts of this event. They will learn elements of dance, comedy and theater from experienced professional performers who are excited to help you explore your talents and discover new ones!

DANCE

Improve coordination, agility and flexibility while learning a variety of techniques and dance methods in easy to follow steps. Everything from ballet to freestyle - get ready to cut loose and get your body moving!

THEATER

Lights, camera... ACTION! Explore your imagination in this exciting session of improvisational theater! Practice making eye contact, listening and reacting to others. Take part in a wide range of creative exercises where you can flex your imagination, get dramatic and have FUN!

COMEDY

Share your sense of humor and improve your communication skills as you learn about the wonderful world of comedy! Practice posture, timing, tone and delivery as you connect with your audience and laugh with your peers. Slapstick, puns, knock-knock jokes and everything in between.

The lathe is a unique woodturning tool and is utilized when crafting your own custom wooden box. Each guest will learn from expert woodturners as you start with a block of wood and carve it down into your special handcrafted mini box.

No woodturning experience is necessary! This class is open to the public (14+).

All classes are held in our workshop area, please dress appropriately! SEEDs will supply eye and ear protection but please wear closed toe shoes and tie back long hair.
